Watch: Trixie Mattel Reveals Breakup with Longtime Partner David Silver
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
"RuPaul's Drag Race" star Trixie Mattel casually announced Monday that she and her longtime partner David Silver have ended their relationship.
The news comes at the end of a new YouTube video called "Getting Ready for 2025," where the "Drag Race" winner reveals she and Silver have split some time ago and that family and friends were already aware of the situation. She added that she had some trouble addressing the split with her fans and the public.
"The other thing I have to tell you guys about, it's not my favorite thing to bring up, but some of you have kind of figured it out and speculated for a while, but David and I separated quite some time ago now. It feels like you people who know me but don't really know me in real life are the last people to know about it," Trixie said.
Trixie, 35, went on to add that it "feels crazy that I haven't come clean on the Internet yet." She said she wanted to find "the right moment and right way," especially for fans who came to know the performer and her ex on their docuseries "Trixie Motel," which followed the couple opening a motel in Palm Springs, California.
"The longer I waited, the longer it was weird that I hadn't said anything. Then, my break came and went. I worry about talking about things like this because I learned from going on break that even me saying 'I need a break' gets written about and stuff. I wish it was fabulous and dramatic and sensational, and I wish there was more to say, but this isn't salacious, and it just happened," she went on to say in her video. "It was a very long relationship and a lot of parts of it will always make me very happy."
Trixie and Silver, a filmmaker and producer, had been together for eight years, Just Jared reported, and she went on to say that the breakup "feels like a million years ago" now and that she's been focusing on "lots of exercise and therapy and processing."
"It was hard for me because I feel like welcoming everybody into my personal life, I got the privilege of making shows and telling you guys a really compelling love story in my life, and it felt disappointing to not be able to make good on that. It feels like telling you guys there's no Santa Claus in a way," Trixie went on to say. "But, I really care about that person, I will always care about that person. I love our motel, I love all of our business ventures. Being creative together with him was especially one of the heights of my life."
"All of my exes, everybody I've ever been with doesn't really leave my orbit. I still always care about these people. Like I said, it's not fresh information. I'm happy to tell you guys now, but it's a new year, it's a new vibe, I hate even having to say it, but I also didn't want to go into the new year and continue to not have mentioned it," she said.
