In a season when major releases from the likes of Taylor Swift and Beyoncé have ravaged the charts, Charlie XCX's newest offering – released June 7 – has outstripped everything else, skyrocketing to "universal acclaim" and promptly racing to the top of the charts, UK newspaper the Daily Mail reports.

"Ranking number one on Metacritic, Charli's new album 'BRAT' glided past Queen B's hit country-pop album 'Cowboy Carter,' which was released on March 29 and is the singer's eighth studio album," the DM detailed.

"According to review aggregator Metacritic, received 'universal acclaim' based on a score of 92 out of 100 from 11 critics scores," the writeup added.

A glance at the reviews so far confirm DM's claims. Variety raved, "with 'Brat,' she's launched a bold new chapter... it has the effervescent hooks of her best work and the shimmer of hyperpop, and lots more." Variety went on to say that Charlie XCX's own description of the album as "a club album" is "a deceptive description, because although there are a lot of fun and club-friendly tracks, but there's a lot more besides" – though, that said, Variety added that "'Brat' would be a masterful album even if all the lyrics were simply about clubbing – it's melodically and musically sophisticated, with remarkably detailed production."

The Washington Post went just as gaga for the new disc, proclaiming that "after the ups and downs of more than a decade in the music industry, it feels like she's finally home" and adding: "If 'Brat' is home, then Charli is the architect and designer."

Moreover, the Post said, once they finish listening to this masterpiece, "some listeners will be tempted to rewind 'Brat' and play it from the top: Another full circle moment for a pop star who has embraced the cult classics – if not best sellers – on which she's built her foundation."

Billboard hailed the arrival of the album as a fulfillment of the 31-year-old artist's artistic promise, writing, "It feels like Charli has been teasing her 'Brat' album for years, drumming up excitement with singles like 'Von Dutch' and '360,' and now the full set is finally upon us."

Added the music mag: "It's fun, it's flirty, it's often bitchy and it's occasionally incredibly poignant, and it feels like the album that most of the past decade of Charli XCX has been building towards."

It wasn't the critics whop went wild for the new disc. Buyers

Gay Twitter verified everything the critics were saying, from the point of view of fans and album buyers. Have a look at what some of the ecstatic tweets are saying.
