2024 Rewind: Who's That Hunk Walking the Runway? 'Drag Race Vegas' Dancers Get Drag Makeovers
READ TIME: 7 MIN.
This piece is part of EDGE's 2024 Rewind series. We're reaching into our archives and sharing some of our favorite stories from the past year.
"RuPaul's Drag Race" is a fun-house mirror of cross-promotion, so it shouldn't have surprised anyone that this season's makeover challenge episode would feature a franchise from the Runiverse. In this case it is "RuPaul's Drag Race LIVE," the long-running Las Vegas revue that has its hunky dancers perform with "Drag Race" stars. On the episode, the five remaining queens were paired with dancers from the show to create drag looks that show a "drag family resemblance," as well as appear in a dance number that showcased each pair's dancing skills.
When surveying the five dancers, shirtless and in jeans, Plane Jane wondered how she was going to turn a macho man into a dainty, feminine woman; that is, turn their bulky frames into fetching silhouettes. And she found a way, winning the challenge by dressing her partner – ginger Nick Lemmer – in a near-identical outfit (they looked like avant-garde yellowjackets – and by bonding with him about coming out while in the Werk Room. It was also a chance for Lemmer – the least demonstrative of the dancers – to take a walk on the wild side on the runway and impressed the judges.
But even before the runway Lemmer made a considerable impression on Ru when told his drag name – Lazy Susan. In that moment, Ru succumbed to the mother of all laughs in what has to be considered an iconic Werk Room moment. For those keeping score, Plane Jane's win tied her with Saphirra with four wins and puts her in good position as the competition heads to its Final Four: Jane, Nymphia, Q and Sapphira after Morphine's elimination this week.

But who are these the five dancers? And how did they look in drag?
