Three Unreleased Lady Gaga Songs Mysteriously Appear on Music Streaming Services

A trio of unreleased Lady Gaga songs appeared on music streaming services (and will probably disappear again soon, if they haven't already). The kicker: They appear under Gaga's real name.

Variety reported that the songs appeared with attribution to Stefani Germanotta, with two of the tracks being remixes and the third appearing to be a demo.

"The three songs... are purported different mixes or versions of two previously released songs, 'Perfect Illusion' and 'Fashion,'" Variety detailed, "as well as an unreleased 2007 song called 'Retro Physical' that Gagapedia states is a collaboration with producer Noize Trip that has been making the rounds online for many years" and that "is very much in the vein of her 2008 debut album, 'The Fame.'"

Noting the rumor that the purported "Perfect Illusion" demo was "a fan prank," Variety observed that "the timing is certainly notable as 'Perfect Illusion,' which had been absent from streaming services, was added back a few days ago."

Wionews reported that the tracks were uploaded Jan. 20 "by a person called UnreleasedSongs. It also claims that they have the copyright to these songs."

"The songs are posted on Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal," Wionews added.

Variety noted that this is far from an isolated incident, with artists' material – sometimes even whole albums – being uploaded to streaming services, which are inundated with tens of thousands of uploads every day and cannot ensure such uploads are taken down swiftly or never happen in the first place.
