'Women Take Center Stage' at Rhode Island's Trinity Rep

EDGE READ TIME: 2 MIN.

The first three plays in Trinity Rep's 2015-16 season all feature women as leaders: "Julius Caesar," in which resident company member Anne Scurria takes on the role of Caesar; "The Heidi Chronicles" by renowned feminist playwright Wendy Wasserstein and directed by Vivienne Benesch; and "The Hunchback of Seville" by up-and-coming playwright Charise Castro Smith and directed by Taibi Magar, both Brown University alums.

To celebrate these plays and the women who anchor them, Trinity Rep is inviting women interested in leadership, politics, and academia to take part in our exclusive special series: Women Take Center Stage. Join us on Thursday, October 1 at 6 p.m. for the first meeting of Women Take Center Stage:"Julius Caesar" featuring Barbara Tannenbaum.

"In life, and in death, [Scurria] pumps a charismatic fury into the character that sparks quickly and fills the room. Her intonation is so powerful and commanding that she leaves the theater in deafening silence when she is finished," writes The Sun Chronicle.

Tickets to Women Take Center Stage: "Julius Caesar" on October 1 at 6 p.m. include:

A special pre-show talk and discussion about women and leadership by renowned persuasive communication consultant and Brown University Professor Dr. Barbara Tannenbaum.
Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and wine. Develop connections and network with other female leaders from various organizations.
A performance of "Julius Caesar." Anne Scurria's portrayal of the iconic Julius Caesar reminds us that Shakespeare's timeless and thrilling drama has never been more relevant than in today's political climate.
A talkback following the performance to share ideas and insights with other attendees.
