'Teen Mom' Star Defines Feminism: 'You're a Lesbian or Something?'

"Teen Mom" turned porn star Farrah Abraham is making headlines this week after the Miami New Times published a riveting interview where the former reality TV star confuses the word "feminism" with being a lesbian.

To promote the opening of a new club in Miami, Fla., Abraham, 22, spoke with the publication and we learn she has no clue what feminism means. The interviewer discusses Abraham's recent sex tape drama and then asks the TV star the 64 million dollar question:

"Do you consider yourself a feminist?" Miami New Times interviewer Allie Conti asks.

"I'm pretty feminine. I think so," Abraham replies.

"Not feminine - a feminist," Conti said.

"What does that mean, you're a lesbian or something?" Abraham asked.

"No that's not what I'm asking at all," Conti said.

"What context are you saying it in?" the reality star asked.

"It's a complicated concept, but I guess at it's most basic, it means that women are equal to men," Conti said.

"Oh, I definitely feel that women are equal to men. No doubt about that. I mean women should have equal rights to men, every day," Abraham said.

Sigh.

Last year, Abraham published an autobiography called "My Teenage Dream Ended," which came with an accompanying CD, which mystified critics. While most critical response was negative for the songs' heavily autotuned vocals and shoddy production (several critics called her single "On My Own" one of the worst pop songs ever made), some critics viewed the record as outsider art.

The Wire called it a "haunting and fascinating mess of outsider pop music" while the Atlantic said the album "is to teen angst what Eraserhead was to domestic angst," making it "a dark and compelling experiment in abstracting and compressing the vicissitudes of 'high school drama.'" The Village Voice even compared the LP's sound to the pioneering witch house band, Salem and the U.K. newspaper the Guardian named it the 32nd best album of 2012.
