Robot Chicken Star Wars Episode II

Blake Matthews READ TIME: 2 MIN.

For the past four seasons Robot Chicken has aired on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. The show pokes fun of pop culture, movies, music, and television nothing is off limits including movies and shows that Green himself have been part of, he's even gotten his friends to do voices. Green and his partners are all huge Star Wars fans and have had skits throughout the shows seasons, they even got George Lucas/Lucasfilm's permission to do a full length episode last year, following the success of Robot Chicken Star Wars, a sequel followed Robot Chicken Star Wars Episode II was created.

Once again there are many sketches since the average skit running one minute, and boasts voice talent such as Seth MacFarlane, Carrie Fisher, Billie Dee Williams, Donald Faison, Abraham Benrubi, Breckin Meyer, Ahmed Best and more. The performers are all fans of Star Wars and that comes through in the show.

The episode ran 22 minutes, but there was about 15 minutes cut out because the show ran over, so the DVD has the broadcast version as well as an extended edition that runs 37 minutes. Robot Chicken DVD's are always packed with extras and this DVD is no different there are 7 commentaries which include writers, actors, crew, the producers from the Clone Wars series and even one with Frank Oz who had nothing to do with the episode but talks about his involvement with Star Wars.

With so many commentaries and some participants on multiple tracks there isn't anything missed. Chicken Nuggets is an option that when it comes up on the screen and select it accesses a variety of short featurettes where the creators of the show explain how something was done or why it was done a certain way. There's deleted scenes, Time Lapse which shows how Robot Chicken uses stop motion animation and the use of time lapse photography to make the show come to life. Scenes of the Skywalker Ranch Premiere, a making of segment, Alternate Audio has scenes that are in the show, but with alternate takes and with some audio bloopers included and much, much more. The guys at Robot Chicken want the fans to get as much bang for their buck and they don't disappoint. There are already talks of a third Star Wars special - it can't come soon enough!
