PopUps: After Turning Heads with New Instagram Pic, Adele Faces Social Media Backlash

Monday August 31, 2020

Adele took to Instagram Sunday afternoon and turned heads with another stunning photo of herself in which she's seen wearing Bantu knots and a Jamaican flag bikini top. Though the new post is another stunning snap of the Grammy winner, Twitter users were quick to call out the singer.

"Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London," Adele, 32, captioned her pic. CNN writes she's "referring to the second largest carnival in the world, which usually takes place around this time in the streets of west London."

CNN adds: "In her post, the 'Hello' singer wore the traditional African hairstyle and bikini top in tribute to the carnival, which celebrates Caribbean culture and interracial tolerance. The event would have taken place August 30 and 31, but is entirely virtual this year because of the coronavirus pandemic."

Twitter users were quick to call out Adele for what they called cultural appropriate. The "Something Like You" singe also had her defenders. Check out the best reactions to her pic below.
