Take It Outside

By Dan Avery | Wednesday May 5, 2010
With the warm weather slowly creeping into town, Next Magazine looks at where you can get your gay drink on alfresco.

Alias

By Peter Sherwood | Tuesday May 4, 2010
Alas and alack, the fabulous Jarnac is no longer, yet another casualty torn from the formerly fetid landscape otherwise known as the Meatpacking District. Unfettered, owner Tony Powe of the erstwhile bistro united with the folks at Alias on the Lower East Side. As we click our heels in delight, we may also hope that two more clicks will magically whisk us all the way across town in time for dinner or brunch!

Getting Personal With Celso

By Dan Avery | Monday May 3, 2010
Some performers can stop you dead in your tracks from across the room, and Celso de la Blanca is one of them.

Listen Up :: Lady Antebellum, Kelly Rowland, Kaskade

By Keo Nozari | Saturday May 1, 2010
It should be no surprise Kelly Rowland has collaborated with her "When Love Takes Over" conspirator David Guetta on the new track from her forthcoming album. We predict "Commander" will command dance floors this summer. And we’ll be curious to see if "Commander" takes rank over Guetta’s own "Gettin’ Over You" featuring Chris Willis, Fergie & LMFAO. But trumpeting both of them could be Guetta’s forthcoming track with Rihanna. Stay tuned!

Getting Personal With Steve Kramer

By Dan Avery | Saturday May 1, 2010
Steve Kramer has been a fixture at the Hangar Bar since it opened in 1993. "I managed nightclubs back in the day but I wanted to scale down to a bar and the Hanger was getting ready to open," he recalls. "I appeared behind the bar for the first weekday Happy Hour and never vanished." He says the venue attracts a diverse crowd of locals to globetrotters.

Our Daily Bread

By Peter Sherwood | Friday Apr 30, 2010
The Long Island City-based wholesale bakery Pain D’Avignon recently opened its first retail location at the Essex Street Market on the Lower East Side. For years, New Yorkers have sampled Pain D’Avignon’s carefully crafted breads and pastries all over town, from Eleven Madison Park and Dean & Deluca to the Mandarin Oriental and Momofuku Ssäm Bar. Now our daily breads-ranging from croissants and brioche to miraculous loaves and cranberry pecan rolls-are available in one place for homebound glory.

Listen Up :: Tracey Thorn, Fedde La Grand. Jamie Foxx

By Keo Nozari | Friday Apr 30, 2010
As fast as you can say uno, dos, tres, cuatro, Cuban-American rapper Pitbull is back with a brand new summer single "Alright" featuring Machel Montano. After last summer’s success of "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)," Pitbull may be feeling the summer lovin’ again from fans with this new ’90s-club-meets-Carribean track from his forthcoming album, Armando, slated for a late May release.

Drinking For A Change

By Benjamin Solomon | Thursday Apr 29, 2010
College students love to drink. In fact most college students like to drink so much they barley have time for anything else-even school! So when a small group of Emerson College alums, both gay and straight, decided they wanted to make a difference in their community, they found a way to do it without giving up their favorite hobby!

The Guys Behind The Makeup

By Benjamin Solomon | Wednesday Apr 28, 2010
Next Magazine goes beneath the mascara and get to know the sexy Cagelles of Broadway’s revival of La Cage Aux Follies a little better.

Tipsy Parson

By Peter Sherwood | Tuesday Apr 27, 2010
My fella and I finally went to the Tipsy Parson-and it wasn’t via the chapel or city hall to retrieve a marriage license; rather it was to have a wonderful dinner, just we two. The first venture from Tasha Garcia Gibson and Julie Taras Wallach brought us Little Giant on the Lower East Side; here they take us on a trip Down South-and it’s an absolute pleasure to be among all the carefully placed bric-a-brac and thoughtful, clever finishes.
