A Squash Bouquet for Autumn Entertaining

Wednesday Oct 31, 2012

Every year, picking a pumpkin and bringing it home to carve into a jack-o-lantern is a tradition not to be missed. This season, try a unique spin on pumpkin carving - with a designer's touch.

Florist Cary Pereyra of The Little Glass Slipper in Greenpoint, Brooklyn shows us how to make a beautiful pumpkin or squash-carved arrangement that could also double as your autumn dinner centerpiece.

The first-of-its-kind herb florist, The Little Glass Slipper sells ready-made and bespoke rustic arrangements that offer aromatherapy, skin care and other medicinal benefits, including air purification.

The herb florist also creates elegant edible arrangements (formed with elements such as ornamental sage and mint).

Follow the instructions below for your own designer's floral centerpiece.

1. Pick some fall flowers that you love!

2. Find any kind of squash and cut a hole in to remove seeds

3. Fill the squash with water

4. Use your squash as a vase.
