Bursting with song, dance and more than a few martinis, A Time to be Born celebrates love and ambition in glamorous 1940’s Manhattan--a city ruled by media moguls and scheming socialites. Brutally ambitious Amanda welcomes hapless Vicky to NYC to conceal an illicit affair --never dreaming that her na?ve friend might become her rival.

The musical is based on the acclaimed 1942 satirical novel by Dawn Powell, inspired by real-life power couple Clare Boothe Luce ( The Women) and Life Magazine publisher Henry Luce. Ernest Hemingway called Powell his "favorite living writer". Diana Trilling famously said, it was Dawn "who really says the funny things for which Dorothy Parker gets credit."
